(1) Commencing as of January 1, 2018, all nonexempt regular full-time employees shall accrue sick leave at the rate of either eight hours per month or one hour for every 40 hours worked, whichever is greater. All regular part-time or seasonal employees shall accrue one hour for every 40 hours worked. Exempt employees, who generally do not track and report their hours worked, shall accrue paid sick leave at the rate of eight hours per month, or 96 hours per calendar year.

(2) Employees shall begin accruing sick leave as of their date of hire; however, employees will not be eligible to use paid sick leave until they have completed 30 days of service with the district.

(3) Sick leave based on hours worked shall be calculated on hours actually worked by an employee, including overtime hours and any minimum call-back hours credited to the employee (which for purposes of this policy shall be considered “time worked”), but excluding holidays and other paid time off.
