Employees should request to use their sick leave as far in advance as possible. This generally means that an employee should provide notice at least 10 days in advance of any planned or other foreseeable absence (such as for a planned appointment or procedure) and at least one hour prior to the employee’s shift for any unforeseeable or emergent absence (unless such notice is not practicable under the circumstances, in which case the employee should provide notice as soon as practicable).
